Today we will study the てしまう ちゃう じゃう ending form. We will use an excerpt from Platinum to try and learn Japanese Together.

もう 起きちゃった 1時間も寝てないよ

You’re Awake … You haven’t slept for even an hour

Was it a scary dream

I’m fine

I’m alive

Hello Everyone Today’s Study Session we will study the しまうform. It means to complete an action or something it also has the meaning of completing something accidentally.

りんごを食べてしまうーI ate the apple

This example means I ate the apple     I finished the apple with out intention of finishing it. (I accidentally ate the apple.)

漫画を読んでしまうーI read the Manga I finished the book unintentionally, you kept reading and reading and before you knew it was all over. I’m like that with manga as well.

The forms for verbs would be

Verb in て/te form + しまう with the other forms ちゃう じゃう would be Verb in て/te form  minus – the て

SO, in the sentence  起きちゃった we know 起きる Is the ru/る Verb to awake/Wake up Instead of 起きて It becomes 起きちゃう

I didn’t explain, I apologize  ちゃう And じゃう are the casual form of てしまう so  起きちゃう (Accidentally Wake up) is the same as 起きてしまう。

So the dialogue is expressing that he suddenly awoke which isn’t his intention to do.

ぶっ 武舞台ないっ

The tournament stage is gone

さすがに すさまじい 破壊力じゃ…. かめはめ波の比ではない

I knew it、That destructive power is not on par with the Kamehame wave

悟空がいないっ いっしょに 消しとんじゃった

Goku They both Just Disappeared!!!!!!

Ok this is one is a little tough because it uses a lot of slangy dialogue But we can still study the form.

We see Krillin Marveling from the Destruction of the Stage and the apparent disappearance of Goku.

悟空がいないっ いっしょに 消しとんじゃった

悟空がいないGoku ga inai we know いないinai is the casual negative form of iru -to be/ to exist so we know 悟空Goku is gone. 一緒にIsshoni 消しkeshi とTo んn じゃったjyatta。

一緒にIsshoni we now means together

消し/keshi is the  te/て form conjugation of  the Verb to erase 消す/けす.

と/to  links the verb to the shorten form of のです n/ん.

We learned we can use This form to ask for confirmation of a suspicion or to give the reason behind a question.

This is a guess Please If i’m wrong help me to fix the mistake

We said the て/te form of the verb when used with the casual short form of てしまう/teshimau with ちゃう/chau or じゃう/jyau we conjugate the verb and drop the て/te. So to link のです/nodesu with the casual form of てしまう/teshimau I guess we add the と/to particle to convey both forms.  Please Contribute If this is completely wrong.

Then they added じゃった/jyatta the past from of the casual てしまう/teshimau

So, Goku has  suddenly disappeared he is accidentally gone. Because it wasn’t his intention to disappear.  The action happened and it is finished and the result Goku is gone.
